What is microblading?
Microblading is a form of Semi-Permanent Makeup performed using a blade made up of several, tiny sharp pins aligned in a row. The blade is dipped into pigment before each stroke, implanting pigment as you go, creating beautiful, realistic, hair-like strokes.
Is microblading painful?
MLE made uses a topical numbing cream prior to starting (specifically for unbroken skin). If a client feels anything, it is a similar description to that of a scratch or plucking sensation. We also use a secondary numbing gel (for broken skin) after your first set of strokes are placed; once your secondary numbing is in place, most people don't feel much of anything.
How long does microblading last?
All microbladed / microshaded brows will need a touch up 6-8 weeks after the initial appointment to color correct, fill in missing strokes, and perfect the existing work. After the touch up, your new brows should last you anywhere from 12-18 months! Taking care of your brows (applying SPF and diligently following after care instructions) will go a long way in preserving your strokes & color.
Should I get my brows waxed or threaded before my appointment?
We like to incorporate as much of your natural hair into the new shape as possible. For that reason, we suggest to clients to let their brows grow out for a bit before coming in. We will clean up any hairs outside of the agreed upon shape using a brow razor.
Who is a good candidate for microblading?
If you fill in your brows daily, have had chemo in the past & your brows have yet to grow back, or just naturally have very little brow hair, then you are a candidate for microblading! If you have naturally oily skin, we'll probably suggest what is called a combo brow, which incorporates microblading with some shading to add density. It tends to last longer on oily skin than just microblading alone. For a more detailed lists for good candidates vs. not being a candidate, see our
What’s the difference between microblading & a combination brow?
Combination brows use the same technique of microblading, with the added benefit of shading. Combo brows are great for clients who have very sparse brows & need the added density of shading. They're also a perfect option for the client that prefers a more filled in, makeup look, while keeping the natural look of hair strokes.
